The second nuance: how repairable are run-flat tyres? With a puncture in the tread area there seem to be no problems at all, but things get much harder when the sidewall is damaged (a cut in the tyre sidewall). No fitter at any tyre centre can restore the stiffness of these sidewalls once they have been cut, so with a sidewall puncture (cut), a tyre like this is definitely headed for the scrap heap, and will not even be fit for “getting to the nearest town”.
