Run-flat tyres: conclusions

To sum up: perhaps, in future, run-flat tyres will become more widespread, but that needs two conditions to be met in principle: first, the price of such tyres would have to fall to a level comparable with ordinary tyres (unlikely, given the nature of the technology), and second, tyre pressure monitoring systems would have to become at least an available option on cars of every class and price bracket.

For now, though, on closer inspection “puncture-proof” tyres are simply a nice myth for the vast majority of motorists.
