Where do market traders get their part-worn tyres from?
There are really only three main sources of part-worn tyres for market dealers:
- tyres from breaker’s yards in Ukraine;
- tyres from breaker’s yards abroad;
- tyres bought from fellow citizens right at the market.
On the whole, the quality of part-worn tyres sold at the market is mostly quite acceptable, although a lot depends on how honest the seller (the dealer) is. Pay particular attention to the tyre’s date of manufacture and to all the markings on the tyre (pairs, and even full sets, of tyres of the same model and roughly the same wear are often made up of spare wheels from different cars, or simply from different cars altogether). It is also categorically not worth buying tyres at the market if the seller offers no guarantee at all, not even for a week.
