Where is the best place to store wheels?

Given what tyres need for storage, the best options are: a dry, clean cellar, a brick garage, a storage cupboard in the flat, or a specialist tyre storage facility, which are becoming more and more popular and are opening in ever greater numbers.

A metal garage may work in winter, at best, if it is not standing in the shade of trees, and only provided the complete wheels are hung on the wall. The same goes for lofts, sheds and other outbuildings. A balcony, especially an unglazed one, is far from the best place to store tyres, neither in winter nor in summer.

It is categorically not recommended to store tyres outdoors, even under a canopy! In the six months or so a tyre spends out in the open, it gets the whole set of conditions that are directly bad for tyres: dew, rain, sun, swings in temperature, dust and dirt. Either way, you know the particulars of your own household best: just think about what climate conditions you can expect during the tyre storage period, and what the microclimate will be in the room where you are planning to set up your tyre store.
